Record Store Day is more than just a day to buy exclusive vinyl - it's a celebration of the vibrant communities that keeps music alive. Your local record store(s) is the heartbeat of your local scene and most of them will host fantastic events celebrating Record Store Day, these events often include an insane amount of live local talent, food, drinks and so much more.
Community Events
Many stores host live music performances, DJ sets, and special events throughout the day. Enjoy drinks, food, and the company of fellow music enthusiasts. It's a Saturday so there's no excuses - Support your locals!
Grassroots Music
Independent record stores are crucial for supporting local artists and the grassroots music scene. They're often the first to champion new artists and provide a platform for emerging talent but times are getting harder for these stores to remain afloat and RSD is a great opportunity for these retailers to bring in much more foot traffic and increase their turnover - Your purchase really does help them and in turn helps to power the grassroots scene. If you've got some extra cash consider picking up a bunch of other records whilst you're there!
