How to Create Basic Keywords with MerchVault
Master the art of keyword filtering. Learn how to use comma-separated keywords to filter your feed for signed variants, specific artists, and TCG sets.
Keyword filtering is one of the most powerful features available in MerchVault. It allows you to transform a high-volume firehose of inventory data into a precise, targeted feed of exactly what you are hunting for. By mastering basic keyword logic, you can ensure that you are only notified for the items that matter most to your collection.
Artist Web Stores
When monitoring a specific artist's official store (like Taylor Swift or Sabrina Carpenter), you already know the artist. Your goal is usually to find the rarest items within that store. For best results, use broad status-based keywords:
signedlimited,edition
Vinyl & Merchandise Retailers
Multi-artist retailers (like Rough Trade or record labels) stock thousands of different products. To find a specific release, you should use the artist name and/or the release title. You can combine these for even higher precision:
the,life,of,a,showgirltaylor,swiftthe,life,of,a,showgirl,signedthe,life,of,a,showgirl,limited
Collectables & TCG Stores
For collectable stores, your keywords should reference specific sets, products, or types of sealed products. This is particularly useful for finding high-demand expansion sets:
prismatic,evolutionelite,trainer,boxetbbooster,sealedamuseables,peanuttimmy,turtlericky,rainalice,in,wonderland,limitedanniversary,pin,setparks,mystery,setascended,heroesblooming,watercharizard,mega
Understanding the Logic
Keywords in MerchVault are comma-separated. The comma effectively acts as an "AND" operator. This means that every single word you include in a keyword must be present in either the product's title or its URL for a match to occur and thus display in your filtered feed tab.
While keywords are optional, we highly recommend them to reduce the number of notifications that you may get from unfiltered routes. By using targeted keywords, you ensure that every alert you receive is a high-signal notification for something you actually want to buy.
